CONCERT PREVIEW: Water From Your Eyes at High Noon Saloon
By: Ava Shumway
The first time I heard a Water From Your Eyes song was from no other than WSUM. I can’t remember the exact song that played, but the song “When You’re Around” is one that I always come back to. The soft melodies and heartfelt lyrics bring me a sense of ease and remind me of when I was back in my freshman year dorm, and I would listen to the album “Structure” to fall asleep most nights.
Water From Your Eyes has grown a lot as a duo since I first heard them back in 2022. Their most recent album, “It’s a Beautiful Place,” is characterized by heartbreak, hope, and longing. Their style is very short but brimming with variety. It starts with a ripping heavy guitar riff, and later on, it has a new order-esque post-punk number. The duo pokes fun at their music with inside jokes and themes of existential angst that always keep you on your toes on their latest release.
For me, seeing them live will be nostalgic to my freshman year and how every experience was so new and eye-opening to me. This duo opened my eyes to so many other artists and genres, and I am so happy WSUM brought me to them. I bet they will sound amazing live at The High Noon this Wednesday, October 1st!
